تقسَّم قَلبي في هواهُ فعندهَهُ

تقسَّم قَلبي في هواهُ فعندهَهُ

فَريقٌ وعندي شُعبَةٌ وفَريقُ

فَريقٌ وعندي شُعبَةٌ وفَريقُ

My heart split in its love for him; with him is

My heart is torn in its love for him

A portion, and with me a fragment and a portion.

Part with him, part with me, part aloof

إذا ظمِئَتْ رُوحي أقولُ لهُ اسقِني

إذا ظمِئَتْ رُوحي أقولُ لهُ اسقِني

فإنْ لم يكُنْ خَمرٌ لديْكَ فَرِيقُ

فإنْ لم يكُنْ خَمرٌ لديْكَ فَرِيقُ

When my soul thirsts, I say to him: Give me a drink;

When my soul thirsts I say “Give me drink!”

And if you have no wine, then saliva.

And if you’ve no wine, then leave me be
