رِيحُ الشّمالِ تَنَفَّسَتْ سَحَرا
May my father and mother be ransom for him whose qualities
By my father and mother, he whose attributes
are the north wind breathing at dawn.
The breeze of the north breathed at dawn,
وإذاand when امتطىmounted قَلَماًa pen أنامِلُهُhis fingers

And when his fingers mount a pen,
And when he mounted a pen, his fingers
he enchants minds with it, yet practices no magic.
Bewitched minds with it, and it was no sorcery.
