    ولِكأسِ السُّرورِ فيه مَساغُ

    Many a day brings ease and plenty to life,

    and smooth passage for the cup of joy;

    we have freed ourselves for it from anguish and

    complaint, while its cups have no respite,

    with a noble man whose necklaces adorn

    necks, fashioned from the jewels of his favors.

    Among us, incense forms a cloud, and rosewater

    a fine drizzle, while rich perfumes form puddles.
