أقولُI say لِمنْto one who يعلّمُهُteaches him المَعاليnoble virtues
أقولُ لِمنْ يعلّمُهُ المَعالي
ويذكُرهُand reminds him لذيto one possessing حقِّa right ذِماماobligations
ويذكُرهُ لذي حقِّ ذِماما
I say to one who teaches him noble virtues
I say to one who teaches him virtues,
and reminds him of obligations owed to one with a rightful claim:
And reminds him to one who deserves a bridle,
أراكَI see you تعلَّمyou teach الصَّدْرَthe breast التزاماًan embrace
أراكَ تعلَّم الصَّدْرَ التزاماً
لِمَنfor the one whom يَهواهُit loves him والثَّغرَand the mouth ابتساماa smile
لِمَن يَهواهُ والثَّغرَ ابتساما
I see you teaching the breast to embrace
I see you learned the chest as an obligation,
the one it loves, and the mouth to smile.
To whom you love and the lips a smile.
