أقولَ وخيرُ القَولِ مالا يشوبُهُ

أقولَ وخيرُ القَولِ مالا يشوبُهُ

رياءٌ وخيرُ النَّاس مَنْ هُوَ صادِقُ

رياءٌ وخيرُ النَّاس مَنْ هُوَ صادِقُ

I say—and the best speech is that which is not tainted

by ostentation, and the best of people is one who is truthful.

تركَّبَ مِن شُكْري وبِرِّك صورَةٌ

تركَّبَ مِن شُكْري وبِرِّك صورَةٌ

فبِرُّك بي حَيُّ وشُكريَ ناطِقُ

فبِرُّك بي حَيُّ وشُكريَ ناطِقُ

A form was composed of my gratitude and your kindness;

so your kindness to me is alive, and my gratitude speaks.
