للهِ في خَلْقِه قَضايا

للهِ في خَلْقِه قَضايا

نافِذَةٌ ما لَها مَرَدُّ

نافِذَةٌ ما لَها مَرَدُّ

God has decrees concerning His creation,

God's decrees in His creation

Which take effect and cannot be reversed.

Are irresistible, beyond refutation

فارْضَ بما قد قضى وأمضى

فارْضَ بما قد قضى وأمضى

فبعدَ جَزرِ الخُطوب مَدُّ

فبعدَ جَزرِ الخُطوب مَدُّ

So be content with what He has decreed and brought to pass,

So accept what He ordained and executed

For after the ebb of calamities comes the flow.

For after hardship comes relief

ولا تضِقْ بالخُطوبِ ذَرعاً

ولا تضِقْ بالخُطوبِ ذَرعاً

فرُبَّما يسهُلُ الأشَدُّ

فرُبَّما يسهُلُ الأشَدُّ

And do not lose patience with calamities,

Do not despair in times of distress

For sometimes the hardest becomes easy.

Oftentimes the most difficult gets effortless

ولاتَكُدَّ نَّكَ الأماني

ولاتَكُدَّ نَّكَ الأماني

فالنّكِدُ العَيشُ من يَكُدُّ

فالنّكِدُ العَيشُ من يَكُدُّ

And let not wishes wear you down,

Do not let worries trouble you

For he who toils lives miserably.

For a worrying life is arduous

وليسَ يُجدي عليكَ جِدُّ

وليسَ يُجدي عليكَ جِدُّ

في الأمرِ مالم يُعِنْكَ جَدُّ

في الأمرِ مالم يُعِنْكَ جَدُّ

And earnest effort does not avail you

And no effort will avail you

In a matter unless good fortune helps you.

In matters where fate does not aid you
