لا تحسبنِّي مَشهداً ومَغِيباً

لا تحسبنِّي مَشهداً ومَغِيباً

أُعطِي سِواكَ مِنَ الفُؤادِ نَصِيبا

أُعطِي سِواكَ مِنَ الفُؤادِ نَصِيبا

Do not think that, in presence or absence,

I give anyone but you a share of my heart.

إنِّي لِجانِبِ مَنْ سِواكَ مُخانِبٌ

إنِّي لِجانِبِ مَنْ سِواكَ مُخانِبٌ

حتَّى كأنَّ عليَّ مِنكَ رَقيبا

حتَّى كأنَّ عليَّ مِنكَ رَقيبا

I shun the company of anyone but you,

so much so that a watcher of yours seems to stand over me.

وإذا نأى عَنِّي الرَّقيبُ تَمثَّلَتْ

وإذا نأى عَنِّي الرَّقيبُ تَمثَّلَتْ

ذِممٌ فأوهَمَتِ الرَّقيبَ قَريِبا

ذِممٌ فأوهَمَتِ الرَّقيبَ قَريِبا

And when the watcher goes far from me, there appear

pledges that make the watcher seem near.
