لا تَعْجَبَنَّ لدَهرٍ ظَلَّ في صَبَبٍ

لا تَعْجَبَنَّ لدَهرٍ ظَلَّ في صَبَبٍ

أشرافُهُ وعَلا في أوجِهِ السَّفِلُ

أشرافُهُ وعَلا في أوجِهِ السَّفِلُ

Do not marvel at an age in which there remain on a downward slope

Do not wonder at Time, though it stays long in youth,

its nobles, while the lowly have risen to its zenith.

And its honored summit towers high above the mean.

وانقَدْ لأحكامِه أنَّى يُقادُ بِها

وانقَدْ لأحكامِه أنَّى يُقادُ بِها

فالمُشتري السَّعْدُ عالٍ فوقَهُ زُحَلُ

فالمُشتري السَّعْدُ عالٍ فوقَهُ زُحَلُ

And submit to its decrees, wherever one is led by them;

Be resigned to the changes of its turning spheres;

for Saturn stands high above auspicious Jupiter.

He who would buy fortune must scale the heights of stars.
