ونحنُ أناسٌ لا نذِلُّ لجانِفٍ

ونحنُ أناسٌ لا نذِلُّ لجانِفٍ

علَينا ولانرضى حكومَةَ حائفِ

علَينا ولانرضى حكومَةَ حائفِ

And we are a people who will not bow to anyone biased

We are a people who bow to no oppressor,

against us, nor accept the judgment of an unjust man.

No tyranny over us do we allow or accept.

ملكنا المعالي بالعَوالي فجارُنا

ملكنا المعالي بالعَوالي فجارُنا

عَزيزٌ ومنْ نكفُلْ بهِ غيرُ خائفِ

عَزيزٌ ومنْ نكفُلْ بهِ غيرُ خائفِ

We won high honors with spears, so our neighbor

We inherited glory in high places, so our pride

is honored, and whoever we pledge to protect is unafraid.

Is great, and none but the fearless do we protect.

ورثنا عن الآباء عندَ اختِرامِها

ورثنا عن الآباء عندَ اختِرامِها

صفائحَ تُغني عن رُسومِ الصَّحائفِ

صفائحَ تُغني عن رُسومِ الصَّحائفِ

We inherited from our fathers, when death took them,

From fathers of old we inherited when honored

sword blades that make the writing on pages needless.

Pages that sing without need of ornate scripts.

تُؤمِّرُنا أسيافُنا ورماحُنا

تُؤمِّرُنا أسيافُنا ورماحُنا

إذا لم يُؤَمِّرْنا لواءَ الخَلائفِ

إذا لم يُؤَمِّرْنا لواءَ الخَلائفِ

Our swords and our spears confer command upon us,

Our swords and our spears give us leadership

when the caliphs' banner does not grant us command.

If not the banners of flimsy caliphs.

بنَيْنا بأطرافِ الأسِنَّة كَعبةً

بنَيْنا بأطرافِ الأسِنَّة كَعبةً

أطافَ بها قَسراً ملوكُ الطَّوائفِ

أطافَ بها قَسراً ملوكُ الطَّوائفِ

We built a Kaaba with the tips of spearheads,

With tongues for tools we built a Kaaba

which the kings of the factions circled under compulsion.

Around which reluctant kings made their circles.

فْمن شاءَ فلْيَخْشُنْ ومنْ شاءَ فلْيلِنْ

فْمن شاءَ فلْيَخْشُنْ ومنْ شاءَ فلْيلِنْ

فما نَقدُنا إنْ قارَضونا بزائفِ

فما نَقدُنا إنْ قارَضونا بزائفِ

So let whoever wishes be harsh, and whoever wishes be gentle;

Let those who wish tremble, let those who wish bend,

for our coin, should they deal with us, is not counterfeit.

For we lose nothing if they come at us falsely.

وسوفَ نُجازي باللّطائفِ أهلَها

وسوفَ نُجازي باللّطائفِ أهلَها

ونَسقي ذُعافَ الّسمِّ أهلَ الكَتائفِ

ونَسقي ذُعافَ الّسمِّ أهلَ الكَتائفِ

And we shall reward with kindness those deserving it,

And soon we will reward the people of Mecca

and give those harboring grudges deadly poison to drink.

And serve the horses of ill-repute their toxic drafts.
