أبو رَوحٍ أدامَ اللهُ عِزَّهْ

أبو رَوحٍ أدامَ اللهُ عِزَّهْ

أَلَدُّ إذا انبرى للخَصْمِ عَزَّهْ

أَلَدُّ إذا انبرى للخَصْمِ عَزَّهْ

Abu Rawh—may God perpetuate his glory—

Abu Rawh whom may God preserve his glory

is fierce in dispute: when he confronts an opponent, he overcomes him.

Most resolute when provoked in dispute his glory

وذاكَ لأنَّهُ هجَرَ الملاهي

وذاكَ لأنَّهُ هجَرَ الملاهي

فصارَ كُثَيِّراً والعِلْمُ عَزَّهْ

فصارَ كُثَيِّراً والعِلْمُ عَزَّهْ

And that is because he has forsaken diversions;

That is because he abandoned frivolities

so he became Kuthayyir, and learning his ʿAzza.

And so became well-versed and knowledge his glory
