لَمdid not تَلتَفِتturn مِنّيof me إِلىtoward ناحِيَهa side
لَم تَلتَفِت مِنّي إِلى ناحِيَه
Why do I see eyes cold toward me,
that have not turned to look my way?
لايَنظُرُdo not look الناسُpeople إِلىtoward المُبتَلىthe afflicted
لايَنظُرُ الناسُ إِلى المُبتَلى
وَإِنَّماand only الناسُpeople مَعَwith العافِيَهwell-being
وَإِنَّما الناسُ مَعَ العافِيَه
People do not look toward the afflicted;
and people keep company only with good fortune.

My companions, ask your Lord for well-being,
for a calamity has befallen me since you left.

My master has grown distant from me since you left,
so my eye weeps at his estrangement.
