While the young man was lively of step, rejoicing in his strides,
While the youth walked with joyous steps

He was told, "The youth has fallen ill"

When told, "He spent a night like none before"
Then it was said: by morning he is gravely stricken, beyond hope.
When told, "He woke up wounded, no hope remains"

When told, "By evening he was stiff and fevered"
And he is being tended—then it was said: death has come upon him.
And crippled, when told, "Death has come upon him"
