    Were it not for Yazid ibn Mansur, I would not have lived.

    He is the one who restored my soul after I had died.

    By God, Lord of Mina and of the camels dancing there,

    I shall surely thank Yazid wherever I may be.

    فَقَد كَفانِيَ بَعدَ اللَهِ ما خِفتُ

    I was ever fearful and anxious about the vicissitudes of my days;

    and indeed, after God, he has shielded me from what I feared.

    Never have I said a word of his excellence to praise him,

    without Yazid's excellence surpassing what I said.
