قُل لِلظِباءِ بِذي الأَرا

قُل لِلظِباءِ بِذي الأَرا

كِ إِذا مَرَرتَ بِهِنَّ جائِز

كِ إِذا مَرَرتَ بِهِنَّ جائِز

Say to the gazelles at Dhū al-Arāk,

Tell the gazelles in the land of Dhi al-Arayk

when you pass by them, O passerby:

If you pass by them it is lawful game

أَلَكُنَّ قَتلُ العاشِقي

أَلَكُنَّ قَتلُ العاشِقي

نَ مُحَلَّلٌ في الشَرعِ جائِز

نَ مُحَلَّلٌ في الشَرعِ جائِز

Is killing lovers, for you,

Is it lawful in sacred law to kill

lawful under sacred law, permissible?

Those passionately in love? It is lawful game
