O you who read in your books

what God has forbidden, yet do not act accordingly.

The Most Merciful has made clear His loathing for one

who commands what is right but does not do it.

    Whoever's deeds do not match

his words—his silence is more becoming.

If anyone reproaches others, my own soul, for what

sins it has committed, deserves greater reproach.

Indeed, one who forbids, yet does what

he forbade, does not act justly, in truth.

And one who rides into sin in his ignorance

is more excusable than one who is not ignorant.

Never mix what God accepts of

deeds with speech from you that He does not accept.
