O seeker of wisdom from its masters,

Light dispels the hue of his darkness.

And the root always waters its branch,

And the flower buds bear fruit from its water.

Whoever envies people for their wealth

    Shoulders worry with its burdens.

    يَغُرُّهُم مِنهُ بِحَلوائِهِ

    And Time is wily with its sons;

It beguiles them with the sweet delights it offers.

It joins fathers to their sons,

And joins the son to his forefathers.

And an act is attributed to its doers,

Like a thing you call by its names.
