with sorrow from you visiting me evening and morning.

Remember, God's trustee, my rights and my honor,
and what you used to bestow on me—perhaps you remember—

وَوَجهَكَ مِن ماءِ البَشاشَةِ يَقطُرُ
those nights when you drew my seat close beside you,
and your face dripped with the water of cheerful welcome.

Who, then, can restore to me the gaze with which you once
looked upon me in days gone by?
