كُلُّ حَياةٍ فَلَها مُدَّةٌ

كُلُّ حَياةٍ فَلَها مُدَّةٌ

وَكُلُّ شَيءٍ فَلَهُ آخِرُ

وَكُلُّ شَيءٍ فَلَهُ آخِرُ

Every life has its span,

Every life has an end,

And everything has an end.

And everything has a final hour.

سُبحانَ مَن أَلهَمَني حَمدَهُ

سُبحانَ مَن أَلهَمَني حَمدَهُ

وَمَن هُوَ الأَوَّلُ وَالآخِرُ

وَمَن هُوَ الأَوَّلُ وَالآخِرُ

Glory be to Him who inspired me to praise Him,

Glory to Him who inspired me with His praise,

And to Him who is the First and the Last,

He who is the First and the Last.

وَمَن هُوَ الدائِمُ في مُلكِهِ

وَمَن هُوَ الدائِمُ في مُلكِهِ

وَمَن هُوَ الباطِنُ وَالظاهِرُ

وَمَن هُوَ الباطِنُ وَالظاهِرُ

And to Him who is everlasting in His dominion,

He who reigns eternally in His kingdom,

And to Him who is the Hidden and the Manifest.

He who is the Hidden and the Manifest.

يا قاطِعَ الدَهرِ بِلَذّاتِهِ

يا قاطِعَ الدَهرِ بِلَذّاتِهِ

لَيسَ لَهُ ناهٍ وَلا زاجِرُ

لَيسَ لَهُ ناهٍ وَلا زاجِرُ

O you who spend your lifetime in its pleasures,

O He who determines the course of time with His bliss,

With no one to admonish or restrain you,

None can deter or hinder Him.

أَتاكَ يا مَغرورُ سَهمُ الرَدى

أَتاكَ يا مَغرورُ سَهمُ الرَدى

وَالمَوتُ في سَطوَتِهِ قاهِرُ

وَالمَوتُ في سَطوَتِهِ قاهِرُ

The arrow of doom has come to you, O deluded one,

The arrow of fate has struck you, O heedless one,

And death is overpowering in its onslaught.

And death overwhelms with its might.

يا رَبِّ إِنّي لَكَ في كُلِّ ما

يا رَبِّ إِنّي لَكَ في كُلِّ ما

قَدَّرتَ عَبدٌ آمِلٌ شاكِرُ

قَدَّرتَ عَبدٌ آمِلٌ شاكِرُ

O my Lord, indeed I am Yours in all that

O Lord, I am Your hopeful and thankful servant

You have decreed—a hopeful, grateful servant.

In all that You decree.

فَاغفِر ذُنوبي إِنَّها جَمَّةٌ

فَاغفِر ذُنوبي إِنَّها جَمَّةٌ

وَاستُر خَطائي إِنَّكَ الساتِرُ

وَاستُر خَطائي إِنَّكَ الساتِرُ

So forgive my sins, for they are many,

Forgive my abundant sins,

And conceal my wrongdoing, for You are the Concealer.

And conceal my faults, for You are the Concealer.
