أَمِنّي تَخافُ اِنتِشارَ الحَديثِ

أَمِنّي تَخافُ اِنتِشارَ الحَديثِ

وَحَظِّيَ في صَونِهِ أَوفَرُ

Do you fear the tale will spread through me?

My friend, your secret is safe with me

And my stake in keeping it secret is greater.

Though gossip spreads, I shall not speak

وَلَو لَم يَكُن فيهِ مَعنىً عَلَيكَ

وَلَو لَم يَكُن فيهِ مَعنىً عَلَيكَ

نَظَرتُ لِنَفسي كَما تَنظُرُ

نَظَرتُ لِنَفسي كَما تَنظُرُ

Even if there were nothing in it against you,

Even if there's no truth that could expose

I would look out for myself, just as you do.

I see you as you see yourself
