Death has severed every firm bond.

After death, the dead have no friend.

Whoever dies loses counsel and com-

passion from every adviser and caring soul.

The dweller in the earth, one of those endowed with kind-

ness, has descended into the distant, deep abode.

All the people of this world swim in heedless-

ness of it, amid the waters of a deep sea.

They compete in swimming, and they are divided

Between survivors among them and those who drown.

And as for my seeking what I demand from it,

I was not entitled to seek it.
