وَكَلَّفتَني ما حُلتَ بَيني وَبَينَهُ

وَكَلَّفتَني ما حُلتَ بَيني وَبَينَهُ

وَقُلتُ سَأَبغي ما تُريدُ وَما تَهوى

وَقُلتُ سَأَبغي ما تُريدُ وَما تَهوى

And you tasked me with what you barred me from;

You commanded me with what stood between me and it

And I said: I will seek what you want and what you desire.

فَلَو كانَ لي قَلبانِ كَلَّفتُ واحِداً

فَلَو كانَ لي قَلبانِ كَلَّفتُ واحِداً

هَواكَ وَكَلَّفتُ الخَلِيَّ لِما يَهوى

هَواكَ وَكَلَّفتُ الخَلِيَّ لِما يَهوى

For if I had two hearts, I would charge one

Had I two hearts, I would have commanded one

With loving you, and assign the free one to what it desires.

With your love and tasked the other with its desires
