Ah, many a provision would have come through some means,

had the servant entrusted his pursuit to it.

And many a person has received his sustenance

from where he neither hopes for it nor expects it.

How beneficial reason is to those who possess it!

The result of reason is perfect conduct.

Indeed, I consider deluded the one deceived by

time, despite how often it changes.

No affair goes straight but it turns crooked,

and nothing comes but it passes away.

    في كُلِّ ما فَكَّرتَ فيهِ عَجَب

    And time's wonders never cease;

in everything you ponder, there is a wonder.
