المَرءُa man يَشقىsuffers بِكُلِّin every أَمرٍmatter
المَرءُ يَشقى بِكُلِّ أَمرٍ
لَمdid not يُسعِدِmake fortunate اللَهُGod فيهِin it جَدَّهhis fortune
لَم يُسعِدِ اللَهُ فيهِ جَدَّه
A man suffers in every matter
in which God has not granted him good fortune.
وَكُلُّand every شَيءٍthing فَقَدتَyou lost يَوماًone day
وَكُلُّ شَيءٍ فَقَدتَ يَوماً
وَاِعتَضتَand you obtained a substitute عَنهُfor it نَسيتَyou forgot فَقدَهits loss
وَاِعتَضتَ عَنهُ نَسيتَ فَقدَه
And anything you lose one day
and find a substitute for—you forget its loss.
لَمdid not يَفقِدِlose المَرءُa man نَفعَthe benefit of شَيءٍa thing
لَم يَفقِدِ المَرءُ نَفعَ شَيءٍ
سَدَّfilled لَهُfor him غَيرُهُsomething other than it مَسَدَّهits place
سَدَّ لَهُ غَيرُهُ مَسَدَّه
A man has not lost the benefit of a thing
when another has filled its place for him.
