Rejoice, for the earth has unveiled its smiling face.
Rejoice, for the veil of earth has unveiled its face,
And has come to you, spreading the fragrance it had folded away.
And come to you spreading what it had folded of its pages,
متحصناًfortified منof حسنهِits beauty فيin معقلٍa stronghold
عقلَbound fast العيونthe eyes علىto رعايةِwatching over زهرهِits blossoms
Fortified within a stronghold made of its beauty,
Fortified in its beauty in an impenetrable stronghold,
That bound the eyes to keeping watch over its blossoms.
The minds fixed on guarding its blossom.

Spring broke its seal, and there appeared to us
Spring has opened its seal, so we saw,
The delights that had lain within its secret heart.
What had been of its mysteries in its secret.

After the clouds had trailed their hems
After the clouds had folded their hems,
Across it, and poured upon it their most precious pearls.
And poured upon it the gentlest of its pearls.

So let your eyelids roam over it; you will polish away rust
Lower your eyelids before it, to shield from its splendor,
Within them, which you would not have worn away had its beauty not emerged.
For if not for the rising of its beauty, you would not bear it.

And thank March for the wonders you see,
Of the beauty of its appearance—its beauty you have not worn away.
Of the beauty of its spectacle, its peer and its wonders.

A month as if Al-Hajjaj ibn Muhammad,
In the beauty of its radiant appearance and its inner nature.
Had cast upon it a touch of his cheerfulness.

A month—as though the chamberlain Ibn Muhammad
A king who captured our souls with noble deeds,
Had cast upon it a touch of his cheerfulness.
That made for him the horizon a crown.
ملكٌa king تملّكَtook possession of رقّناour servitude بمكارمٍthrough noble deeds
جعلتmade لهfor him غفرGhafr (a star group) النجومthe stars كعفرهِlike his dust
A king who won our servitude through noble deeds,
The affairs of its time are still in captivity,
That made Ghafr among the stars like his own dust.
For I have seen in it my love in all captivity.
لاmay not زالcease to be خطبُthe adversity of زمانهhis age فيin اسرِهِhis captivity
فلقدfor indeed رأيتُI have seen بهin him هوايَmy heart's desire بأسرهِin its entirety
May the adversity of his age remain forever his captive,
For in him I have found all my heart's desire.
