Indeed—by the sanctity of a cup

of venerable aged wine,

of aged wine,

وَعقد نَحر بِنَحرٍ

وَعقد نَحر بِنَحرٍ

وَمَزج ريقٍ بِريقِ

وَمَزج ريقٍ بِريقِ

by neck entwined with neck,

and the joining of neck to neck,

and the mingling of saliva with saliva—

and the mingling of saliva with saliva,

فَقَد جَرى الحبُّ مِني

فَقَد جَرى الحبُّ مِني

مَجرى دَمي في عُروقي

مَجرى دَمي في عُروقي

love has coursed through me

love has indeed flowed through me

as my blood courses through my veins.

as my blood flows in my veins.
