وَأَبرَزَ الخِدر مِن ثنَييه بَيضته

وأَعجل الرَوع نَصل السَيف يُختَرطُ

And the curtained chamber brought forth its egg—its sheltered maiden—from its two folds.

He drew out his sword from its sheath

And terror hastened the drawing of the sword’s blade.

And made haste, whetting the sharp blade

فَثمَّ تَفديكَ مِنّا كُلّ غانية

فَثمَّ تَفديكَ مِنّا كُلّ غانية

والشَيخُ يَفديكَ والولدان والشمُطُ

والشَيخُ يَفديكَ والولدان والشمُطُ

So there, every beautiful woman among us offers herself as your ransom,

There to ransom you with every songstress

And the old man offers himself as your ransom, as do the boys and the gray-haired.
