Sol 6.1

  1. سَقى مَعهَداً مِن إِيلياءَ هَتُونُ

    فَلِي بَينَ هاتيكَ الرُبوعِ شُجونُ

    May pouring rain water a familiar haunt in Iliya,

    For amid those dwellings I have sorrows.

  2. وَلا زالَ خَفّاقُ النَسيمِ بربعِهِ

    يطيفُ فَإِن القَلبَ فيهِ رهينُ

    And may the fluttering breeze about its dwelling never cease

    To circle, for the heart is held captive there.

  3. مَنازِلُ أَحبابٍ إِذا عَنَّ ذِكرهُم

    سَقَتهم عَلى بُعدِ الدِيارِ شُؤُونُ

    The dwellings of loved ones—whenever their memory comes to mind,

    Tear ducts water them, though their homes are far away.

  4. أَقاموا وَسِرنا وَالفُؤادُ لَدَيهِمُ

    مُقيمٌ وَهَل يَرعى الوِدادَ خَدينُ

    They stayed, and we journeyed on, while the heart, with them,

    Remains; and will a close companion preserve affection?

  5. أَيا ساكِني البَيتِ المُقَدّس هَل تَرى

    يَجودُ بِكُم دَهرٌ عَلَيَّ ضَنِينُ

    O dwellers of the Holy House, do you think

    Fate, so grudging toward me, will grant me your company?

  6. سَقى اللَهُ هاتيكَ الدِيارَ وَأَهلَها

    سحابُ دُنوِّ العَهدِ وَهوَ هَتُونُ

    May God water those dwellings and their people

    With the cloud of a near reunion, pouring copiously.

  7. وَخَصّ جَناباً فيهِ رُكنُ هِدايَةٍ

    لَهُ الفَضلُ خِدنٌ وَالوَفاءُ قَرينُ

    And favor a precinct where dwells a pillar of guidance,

    Whose close friend is excellence, whose companion is fidelity;

  8. سِراجُ المَعاني عمدةُ القَومِ وَالَّذي

    لَدَيهِ جَميعُ المُشكلات تَهونُ

    The lamp of meanings, the people's mainstay, and the one

    For whom all difficulties become easy.

  9. عَلَيكُم سَلامُ اللَهِ ما حَنَّ عاشِقٌ

    تَضاعَفُ مِنهُ أَنّةٌ وَحَنينُ

    May God's peace be upon you as long as a lover yearns,

    His moaning and yearning ever redoubling.

  10. فَوَاللَهِ ما فارَقتكم قالِياً لَكُم

    وَلَكِنَّ ما يَقضى فَسَوفَ يَكونُ

    For, by God, I did not leave you out of hatred for you;

    But what is decreed will come to pass.
