ذَهَبتَyou departed وَلَمand did not تُلمِمdraw near بِديباجَةِto the brocade of الحَرَمthe sanctuary
ذَهَبتَ وَلَم تُلمِم بِديباجَةِ الحَرَم
وَقَدand indeed كُنتَyou were مِنهاbecause of her فيin عَناءٍanguish وَفيand in سَقَمsickness
وَقَد كُنتَ مِنها في عَناءٍ وَفي سَقَم
You departed without drawing near the sanctuary’s brocade,
though you had been in anguish and sickness because of her.
جُنِنتَyou went mad بِهاfor her لَماwhen سَمِعتَyou heard بِذِكرِهاof her mention
جُنِنتَ بِها لَما سَمِعتَ بِذِكرِها
وَقَدand already كُنتَyou were مَجنوناًmad بِجاراتِهاfor her female neighbors القُدُمof old
وَقَد كُنتَ مَجنوناً بِجاراتِها القُدُم
You went mad for her when you heard her mentioned,
though you had already been mad for her neighbors of old.
