سرت ارواح حزب العاشقين

سرت ارواح حزب العاشقين

To the thresholds of Zayn al-Abidin

To the threshold of Zain al-Abideen

the souls of the company of lovers journeyed.

The spirits of the party of lovers flowed,

وطافت منه في سوح وسيع

وطافت منه في سوح وسيع

به لاذت ملوك الواصلين

به لاذت ملوك الواصلين

And circled through his spacious courts,

And circled in its spacious meadows,

where the kings of those who have attained sought refuge.

To which the kings of the united resorted.

وان رحابه السامى المباني

وان رحابه السامى المباني

مقام الامن للمتبتلين

مقام الامن للمتبتلين

And indeed his precincts, lofty in structure,

And its high, lofty buildings,

are an abode of safety for those devoted to worship.

Are the abode of security for the afflicted.

له الشرف المورث من حسين

له الشرف المورث من حسين

امام بني الرسول الطاهرين

امام بني الرسول الطاهرين

His is the honor inherited from Husayn,

To him belongs the inherited honor from Hussein,

the imam of the Messenger's pure descendants.

The imam of the progeny of the Pure Prophet.

وجلجلة المفاخر عن علي

وجلجلة المفاخر عن علي

له دقت بكل العالمين

له دقت بكل العالمين

And the peal of glories from Ali

And the glory of pride over Ali,

rang out for him throughout all the worlds.

It has spread to all worlds.

ومن حال البتول به شؤُن

ومن حال البتول به شؤُن

لها قدم العلا في السابقين

لها قدم العلا في السابقين

And in him are states drawn from al-Batul's spiritual condition,

And from the state of the virgin through him conditions,

with exalted standing among the foremost.

She has the highest position among the predecessors.

وقام بمرط اسرار التدلي

وقام بمرط اسرار التدلي

يميس بحال خير المرسلين

يميس بحال خير المرسلين

And he stood in the mantle of the mysteries of drawing near,

And he undertook the secrets of submission,

swaying in the state of the best of messengers.

And acted in the state of the best of messengers.

هو السجاد من يطوي الخفايا

هو السجاد من يطوي الخفايا

تقلب في الكرام الساجدين

تقلب في الكرام الساجدين

He is al-Sajjad, who enfolds hidden things;

He is the Prostrator who folds secrets,

he passed among the noble ones who prostrate.

Turning among the generous prostrators.

وابرز مظهر الهادي بطور

وابرز مظهر الهادي بطور

تجلت فيه نفحة طورسينا

تجلت فيه نفحة طورسينا

And revealed the Guide's manifestation upon a mount

And he revealed the appearance of the Guide at Mount Tur,

where a breath of Mount Sinai was revealed.

Where the breeze of Mount Sinai was manifested through him.

ترامت نحوه منا قلوب

ترامت نحوه منا قلوب

مسربلة بوجد الوالهين

مسربلة بوجد الوالهين

Hearts from among us surged toward him,

Yearning hearts flung themselves toward him,

clad in the ecstasy of those bewildered by love.

Clothed in the ecstasy of the enraptured.

تمس على اريكته وجوها

تمس على اريكته وجوها

وتفرش حول ساحته عيونا

وتفرش حول ساحته عيونا

They press their faces upon his couch,

Touching his throne, faces

and spread their eyes around his courtyard,

And spreading around his yard, eyes.

وتنزل ضمنها ركنا مشيدا

وتنزل ضمنها ركنا مشيدا

وحصنا من عنايته حصينا

وحصنا من عنايته حصينا

and settle within it in a lofty stronghold,

And descending among them, a monument,

and an impregnable fortress of his care.

And a fortress of his care, fortified.

امام احكم العرفان حتى

امام احكم العرفان حتى

جلا حكم العلا للعارفين

جلا حكم العلا للعارفين

An imam who mastered spiritual knowledge until

The imam of the soundest mysticism until

he unveiled the wisdom of the heights to those who know.

The rule of the Exalted became clear to the gnostics.

به اقتدت الائمة في المعاني

به اقتدت الائمة في المعاني

وعنه روت صدور الخاشعين

وعنه روت صدور الخاشعين

The imams followed his example in spiritual truths,

The imams followed his meanings,

and the breasts of the reverent related his teachings.

And from him the hearts of the humble narrated.

وقام على سرير الامر مولى

وقام على سرير الامر مولى

اماما للهداة المتقين

اماما للهداة المتقين

And he stood upon the throne of authority as a master,

And he stood on the throne of the matter, Master,

an imam to the God-fearing guides.

An imam for the righteous guides.

فناب عن النبي بكل حال

فناب عن النبي بكل حال

وواصل علمه للطالبين

وواصل علمه للطالبين

Thus he deputized for the Prophet in every state,

So he turned away from the Prophet in every state,

and conveyed his knowledge to the seekers.

And connected his knowledge to the seekers.

وجاء لنا باسرار صراح

وجاء لنا باسرار صراح

جلت لأُولي الهدى نهجاً مبينا

جلت لأُولي الهدى نهجاً مبينا

And brought us mysteries made plain,

And he came to us with the secrets of honesty,

which revealed a clear path to those endowed with guidance.

Which were clear to the people of guidance, a clear path.

واحكمها باحكام تسامت

واحكمها باحكام تسامت

وصارت في السلوك الحق دينا

وصارت في السلوك الحق دينا

And established them firmly through exalted rulings,

And he secured them with judgments that transcended,

and they became a religion in true spiritual wayfaring.

And they became in the path of truth a religion.

بها اتصل الرجال وضاء منها

بها اتصل الرجال وضاء منها

منار الاهتدى للصالحين

منار الاهتدى للصالحين

Through them the men attained union, and from them shone

Through them the men connected and from it

the beacon of guidance for the righteous.

The lighthouse of guidance for the righteous shone.

اليك ابا الايمة عرض حال

اليك ابا الايمة عرض حال

تضمن كل شكوى العائذين

تضمن كل شكوى العائذين

To you, father of the imams, a petition,

To you, O Father of the Imams, a state presents

containing every complaint of those who seek refuge.

Containing every complaint of the refugees.

وانت وجدك المعبوث فينا

وانت وجدك المعبوث فينا

امام شامل للخائفين

امام شامل للخائفين

And you, with your grandfather sent among us,

You and your overflowing passion among us

are an imam embracing the fearful.

Are the comprehensive imam of the fearful.

فادركني بنفحة غوث قلب

فادركني بنفحة غوث قلب

نراه وسيلة المتوسلين

نراه وسيلة المتوسلين

So come to my aid with a breath of succor for the heart,

So reach me with a breath of heart relief

which we regard as the means of those seeking intercession.

We see it as the means of the supplicants.

وخذ بيدي فانت بغير شك

وخذ بيدي فانت بغير شك

مدا الايام ذخر اللائذين

مدا الايام ذخر اللائذين

And take my hand, for you are, without doubt,

And take my hand, for you without a doubt

throughout the days, a treasure for those seeking refuge.

Are the pillar of the refuge of the refugees.

فلي نسب اليك جلا عقودا

فلي نسب اليك جلا عقودا

من الزهر الفحول الوارثين

من الزهر الفحول الوارثين

For I have a lineage reaching you that revealed necklaces

For I am affiliated to you, manifesting contracts

of radiant, stalwart heirs.

From the prominent, inherited flowers.

بهم وسط النظام ابن الرفاعي

بهم وسط النظام ابن الرفاعي

امام السادة المتمكنين

امام السادة المتمكنين

Among them, at the necklace's center, is Ibn al-Rifa‘i,

Through them in the middle of the system, the son of Rafa'i

the imam of the firmly established masters,

The imam of the firmly established masters.

رئيس الاولياء ومقتداهم

رئيس الاولياء ومقتداهم

وسيدهم وشيخ العاجزين

وسيدهم وشيخ العاجزين

chief of the saints and their exemplar,

The chief of the saints and their role model,

and their master and the shaykh of the helpless.

And their master and the shaykh of the helpless.

فاسعفني بهم واحلل عقا لي

فاسعفني بهم واحلل عقا لي

عساي اعد بين الفائزين

عساي اعد بين الفائزين

So aid me through them, and loosen a fetter for me,

So help me through them and dissolve the knot for me,

that perhaps I may be counted among the successful.

Maybe I will be counted among the winners.

ودمت الدهر واسطة التجلي

ودمت الدهر واسطة التجلي

وروح ضمير عزم المخلصين

وروح ضمير عزم المخلصين

And may you remain forever the intermediary of manifestation,

And may you last forever as the means of theophany,

and the spirit at the heart of the resolve of the sincere.

And the spirit of the resolution of the loyal.

تطوف بك القلوب بكل آن

تطوف بك القلوب بكل آن

فتشهد كعبة للطائفين

فتشهد كعبة للطائفين

Hearts circle around you at every moment,

Revolving around you, the hearts every moment,

and thus behold a Kaaba for those who circle.

So you witness a shrine for the circumambulators.

ولا زال السلام مع التحايا

ولا زال السلام مع التحايا

طرازك في العلا حينا فحينا

طرازك في العلا حينا فحينا

And may peace, together with greetings, ever remain

And greetings and salutations do not cease to be

your adornment on high, time after time.

Your decoration in the Highest again and again.

لتتحفك الصلاة صلاة قدس

لتتحفك الصلاة صلاة قدس

وتشمل آل طه اجمعين

وتشمل آل طه اجمعين

May blessings honor you—blessings of holiness—

To gift you the prayer of holiness,

and encompass all the family of Ta-Ha.

And include the family of Taha altogether.
