the caliph of the age, noble in standing and lineage,

Khalifa of time, the wise kinsman

That stood on the throne of glorious awe

ومهد الدولة حتى غدت

تصدح بالافراح كالعندليب

And he set the state in order, until it came

And laid the foundations of the state, until it rang

to sing with joy like a nightingale.

With joy like the bulbul

سياسة البسها حكمة

ساوى بعيد الناس فيه القريب

ساوى بعيد الناس فيه القريب

Governance he clothed in wisdom:

He dressed it in the politics of wisdom

in it, the distant among the people equaled the near.

And made both the near and far people equal

احكم بالانصاف احكامها

احكم بالانصاف احكامها

فانبلجت تجلى بطرز عجيب

فانبلجت تجلى بطرز عجيب

He made its rulings firm through fairness,

He judged with the scales of justice, so its rulings shone

so it shone forth, displayed in a wondrous style.

Appearing wondrously adorned

لله من سلطان عدل له

لله من سلطان عدل له

من شيم الفاروق اوفى نصيب

من شيم الفاروق اوفى نصيب

God be praised for such a just sultan! His is

Praise be to God for a sultan of justice, who

the fullest share of al-Faruq's virtues.

Received the finest portion from Omar's nature

أعلى منا والشرع لكن على

أعلى منا والشرع لكن على

قاعدة ترضى جناب الحبيب

قاعدة ترضى جناب الحبيب

He exalted [unclear wording] and the sacred law, but upon

You are above us, but the law is for you, however

a foundation that pleases the Beloved's august presence.

On the basis that satisfies the Beloved

واصلح الاحكام حتى رأى

واصلح الاحكام حتى رأى

رونق عز الاهل طرف الغريب

رونق عز الاهل طرف الغريب

And he reformed the rulings, until there was beheld

And he improved the rulings until he saw

the splendor of the people's glory by the stranger's eye.

The splendor of the family's honor in the eyes of the stranger

خطت يد العون بتاريخه

خطت يد العون بتاريخه

نصر من الله وفتح قريب

نصر من الله وفتح قريب

The hand of aid inscribed in his chronogram:

The hand of aid wrote in his history
