The father of both realms of knowledge, the one with the established pillar
فتىa noble youth مهماhowever much تقادمgrows old وقتtime عصرan age
فتى مهما تقادم وقت عصر
يرىis seen فيهin it لهfor him الذكرremembrance المجددrenewed
يرى فيه له الذكر المجدد
A noble youth—however old an age may grow,
A youth no matter how far back in time
his remembrance is seen renewed within it.
His remembrance and glory are renewed
هوhe البحرthe sea الذيwhich عظمتgrew great جلالاin majesty
هو البحر الذي عظمت جلالا
غوامضmysteries درpearls معناهhis meaning المنضدarranged in order

He is the sea, wherein grow great in majesty
He is the ocean whose majesty grew

هو الغيث الذي فاضت جمالاً
حقائقtruths سحبclouds نائلهhis bounty المؤبدeverlasting
حقائق سحب نائله المؤبد
He is the rain, wherein overflow in beauty
He is the rain whose beauty overflowed
the truths of the clouds of his everlasting bounty.
The truths of its lasting clouds are gifted
هوhe الحرمthe sanctuary الأمينsecure ومنand whoever أتاهcomes to him
هو الحرم الأمين ومن أتاه
بصدقwith sincerity والنجاand deliverance بحماهin his protection يسعدfinds happiness
بصدق والنجا بحماه يسعد
He is the secure sanctuary; whoever comes to him
He is the inviolable sanctuary, whoever comes to him
in sincerity finds joy and deliverance in his refuge.
With sincerity is delivered by his protection and made happy
هوhe الغوثthe spiritual succor الجليلaugust أبوfather of المعاليlofty honors
هو الغوث الجليل أبو المعالي
أجلmost exalted الصالحينthe righteous علاin eminence واوحدand peerless
أجل الصالحين علا واوحد
He is the august Ghawth, Abu al-Ma'ali,
He is the magnificent savior, the most excellent of the righteous
the greatest of the righteous in eminence, and peerless.
The highest of the poles, supreme and unmatched
تسلطنbecame sovereign رتبةin rank وسماand rose مقاماin station
تسلطن رتبة وسما مقاما
ففيدunclear; probably 'so in him' أكابرthe greatest of الأقطابthe spiritual poles ترشدfind guidance
ففيد أكابر الأقطاب ترشد
He became sovereign in rank and rose in station;
Sovereignty and position were ruled
so in him [probable reading], the greatest spiritual poles find guidance.
So the great poles are guided by him
وفيand at أبوابهhis gates زبدfoam المعانيmeanings
وفي أبوابه زبد المعاني
بموجin a wave للقيامةuntil the Resurrection ليسdoes not يجمدfreeze
بموج للقيامة ليس يجمد
And at his gates is the foam of meanings,
In his courts lies the cream of meanings
in a wave that will not freeze before the Resurrection.
With waves till the Day of Judgment not frozen
علتrose high أحوالstates دولتهhis dominion مكاناًin standing
علت أحوال دولته مكاناً
فكانso he was هوhe المكينfirmly established بكلat every مرصدwatchpost
فكان هو المكين بكل مرصد
The states of his dominion rose high in station,
The state of his rule has reached
so he stood firmly established at every watchpost.
For he is the one firm in every observatory
وكمand how many منof آيةa sign كبرىmighty تجلتbecame manifest
وكم من آية كبرى تجلت
لهfor him ويدand a beneficent hand ليومfor the Day of الحشرthe Gathering تحمدis praised
له ويد ليوم الحشر تحمد
And how many a mighty sign has shone forth
And how many great signs were revealed
for him, and a helping hand praised on the Day of Gathering!
For him, by the Day of Gathering his hand is praised
ويكفيهand suffices him افتخاراًas glory فيamong البراياcreated beings
ويكفيه افتخاراً في البرايا
علىabove الأفرادthe peerless ones مدthe extending of يمينthe right hand of أحمدAhmad
على الأفراد مد يمين أحمد
And glory enough for him among all creatures is
And it is enough pride for him in the deserts
the extending of Ahmad's right hand, above the peerless ones.
That the right hand of Ahmed has extended
فمنso from فيضthe outpouring of الرسولthe Messenger بكلat every آنmoment
فمن فيض الرسول بكل آن
رفيعlofty رحابهhis spacious precincts المعمورwell-frequented يقصدis sought
رفيع رحابه المعمور يقصد
So, through the Messenger's outpouring, at every moment,
So whoever seeks the abundance of the Messenger
his lofty, well-frequented precincts are sought.
His sublime sanctuary they head to
كذاlikewise آلthe family of الرسولthe Messenger لهمthey have إيادbeneficent hands
كذا آل الرسول لهم إياد
علىabove هامthe summits of العلاsublimity بالعزwith glory تمتدextend
على هام العلا بالعز تمتد
Likewise, the Messenger's family have beneficent hands
Likewise the house of the Messenger, their support
that stretch in glory above the summits of sublimity.
On the summit of glory with honor extends
وجدهمand their grandfather أجلthe noblest of الرسلthe messengers قدراًin worth
وجدهم أجل الرسل قدراً
وأعلاهمand the highest of them برحبin the expanse of الغيبthe Unseen مسندseat
وأعلاهم برحب الغيب مسند
And their grandfather is the noblest of messengers in worth,
And their grandfather is the highest ranked Messenger
and holds the highest seat among them in the vast Unseen.
And the highest supported in the vast unknown
عليهupon him اللَهGod صلىbestows blessings كلevery آنmoment
عليه اللَه صلى كل آن
مدىfor the duration ماthat ذكرهhis remembrance الممدوحpraised ينشدis chanted
مدى ما ذكره الممدوح ينشد
May God send blessings upon him at every moment,
May Allah send blessings upon him at all times
as long as his praised remembrance is chanted,
As long as the one praised recites his verse
وأصحابand companions وأولدand children كرامnoble
وأصحاب وأولد كرام
بهمthrough them قمريthe turtledove of روضthe garden of السعدfelicity غردsang
بهم قمري روض السعد غرد
and upon noble companions and children,
And his noble companions and children
through whom the turtledove of felicity's garden sang.
