يا علياً علا المعالي علاه

يا علياً علا المعالي علاه

وجلا هيكل الدجى مجلاه

وجلا هيكل الدجى مجلاه

O Ali, whose eminence surpassed the loftiest ranks,

O Ali, you are supreme in your virtues, elevated

And whose radiance dispelled the edifice of night’s darkness.

And the darkness of night is illuminated by your light

أنت مولى للمؤمنين ومن أص

أنت مولى للمؤمنين ومن أص

بحت مولاه فالنبي مولاه

بحت مولاه فالنبي مولاه

You are the believers’ master, and whoever

You are the master of the faithful, and whoever takes

You have become master of, the Prophet is his master.

You as his master, the Prophet is his master

والرسول العظيم قال إلهي

والرسول العظيم قال إلهي

ذا علي فوال من والاه

ذا علي فوال من والاه

And the great Messenger said: “My God,

And the great Messenger said, my God

This is Ali; so befriend whoever befriends him.”

This is Ali, so be loyal to those loyal to him

ولسر التأكيد بعد الموالا

ولسر التأكيد بعد الموالا

ة دعاء وضده عاداه

ة دعاء وضده عاداه

And, for the subtle purpose of emphasis, after loyalty,

And to emphasize the secret of loyalty after allegiance

Came a prayer for its opposite: “[Be hostile to whoever] was hostile to him.”

Is a prayer, and its opposite earns enmity

قبل اللَه ذاك من غير ريب

قبل اللَه ذاك من غير ريب

أن طه لمستجاب دعاه

أن طه لمستجاب دعاه

God accepted that, without any doubt,

Without doubt, God accepts

For Taha’s prayer is surely answered.
