كمhow much للهوىfor love منof روحsolace روحsoul وراحand wine
Love's wine ran riot amid thoughts.
My thoughts overflow with passion,
How much solace for the soul and wine there is in love!
How much passion has a soul, a soul that comes and goes,
وهزand shook البابthe minds الرجالof men النوىseparation
وكمand how many مكينa steadfast man للنوىat separation صاحcried out صاحO friend
And separation shook the minds of men.
And knocked are the doors by the determined men,
And how many a steadfast man cried out at separation, O friend!
And how steadfast are the determined, crying out,

O driver of the pale camels, seeking the sanctuary,
O driver of the carriage, he craves the fever,
Yearning for those radiant faces,
Truly for those faces is the morning,

He endures hunger and thirst for their sake,
He withstands hunger for them and thirst,
Through toil, he joins his night to morning.
He strives at night for the morning,
باللهby God انif وافيتyou reach احياءهمtheir encampments
فاذكرthen mention دموعيmy tears والعقودand the pledges الصحاحsound
By God, if you reach their encampments,
By God, if you meet the living ones,
Then mention my tears and the firm pledges.
Remember my tears and the pure vows,
فاننيfor indeed I اعشقlove احياءهمtheir living ones
ومنand those who مضىhave passed للهto God منهمamong them وراحand departed
For I love those among them who live,
For I love the living ones,
And those among them who have gone to God and departed.
And those who left for God and went away,

A people who have, in my heart's core and breast,
They have in my heart and mind vast dwellings,
Whether near or far, spacious dwellings.
In nearness and distance, spacious homes,
ماnever خامرواthey pervaded فكريmy mind الاexcept that انتشاit grew intoxicated
والدمعand tears منfrom عينيmy eye كالسيلlike a torrent ساحflowed
Whenever they pervaded my mind, it grew drunk,
They stirred my thoughts only to rejoice,
And tears from my eye flowed like a torrent.
And tears from my eyes flow like pouring rain,
ولاand never رأتsaw عينيmy eye شمسthe sun العلاof glory
الاexcept that محياهمtheir countenance الىto العينthe eye لاحshone
Nor did my eye behold the sun of glory
And my eyes saw no sun rising,
Without their countenance shining before it.
Except their life gleaming to the eyes,

فاسلمso stay safe ولمand have not تعشقyou loved اخيmy brother الملاحthe beautiful ones
Indeed, love—alas!—is the bringer of affliction.
Passion - oh what an inviter of afflictions!
So remain safe, my brother, so long as you have not loved the fair.
So submit, and do not fall in love my seafaring brother.
