  1. لقد أسمعتها سحر المعاني

    وصغت لها جمان الشعر نظما

    Indeed, I let her hear the magic of meanings,

    And fashioned poetry’s pearls into verse for her.

  2. فكان جزاي أن فتكت بقلبي

    بسيف الصد عدواناً وظلما

    So my reward was that she struck my heart a fatal blow

    With the sword of rejection, in aggression and injustice.
