I was bewildered and could not endure longing patiently.

I was astounded, and had no patience for ardour,

My eyes overflowed with tears like a sea,

مددت الى الوداع يدي واخرى

And when they traveled by night and my heart blazed like embers,

And when they departed, my heart burned like embers,

I stretched out my hand in farewell, and with the other

I reached out my hand for farewell, then the other,

حبست بها الحبوة على فؤادي

حبست بها الحبوة على فؤادي

I held the wrap against my heart.

With which I kept my love imprisoned in my heart.
