أحب الحبيب لأحظى به

أحب الحبيب لأحظى به

بعيني وفي رؤيته اكتفى

I love the beloved, that I may delight in him

I love my beloved, so I may attain him

With my eyes; and in seeing him I am content.

With my eyes and seeing him, I suffice

فمن حية الهجر في مهجتي

سموم برؤيته تشتفي

سموم برؤيته تشتفي

For in my heart, from the serpent of estrangement,

So from the serpent of separation in my inner self

Are poisons healed by the sight of him.

With seeing him, the poisons are healed
