Time, in its folly, seems at peace with the rabble,
They overflow with rain what is in their pockets
and at war with the radiant, generous lords.
And did not witness but wrath and blaming

They pour out the contents of their pockets like rain,
And a stingy Lord, and blemishes are his clothes
yet have encountered only the angry and the reproachful.

And many a miser, whose garment is faults,
So how they overturned notables through delusion into baseness
has the enemies of nobility count those faults as virtues.

And they brought out the cunning of foxes to the hyenas
and, in ignorance, pictured the stars in the lowest depths!

They have brought mangy foxes onto the battlefield
They transgressed God's limits so their opinion blackened
as lions, and called the lions foxes.

They felt safe from the evils of consequences tomorrow
and returned to them thwarted from delusion's raid.

He turned his resolve away from Layla, Salma, and Zaynab,
As a path, and did not seek high status and positions
and set out in sincerity, fleeing to God.
And she said, why has your determination not ceased
