Can the radiance of your majesty be denied,

How can one deny your sublime glory,

When you are a light for the world's darkness?

When you are the radiance that illuminates the world?

برزت لساحة المجلا يتيماً

برزت لساحة المجلا يتيماً

بقوم طم قسوتهم جفاء

بقوم طم قسوتهم جفاء

You emerged into the arena of manifestation an orphan,

Alone you entered the arena of battle,

Among a people whose hardness was awash with cruelty.

Among a people whose harshness was extreme.

وما لك يا رسول الله مال

وما لك يا رسول الله مال

ولا من ناصر الا القضاء

ولا من ناصر الا القضاء

And you had no wealth, O Messenger of God,

You had no wealth, O Messenger of God,

Nor any helper save divine decree.

Nor any helper except Divine decree.

فأودع فيك مبدي الخلق سرا

فأودع فيك مبدي الخلق سرا

تقر الارض فيه والسماء

تقر الارض فيه والسماء

So the Originator of creation placed a secret within you,

So the Creator entrusted His secret to you,

In which earth and heaven find repose.

And through you the earth and sky found peace.

فعرقك عرقه نوع شريف

فعرقك عرقه نوع شريف

اصيل قام فيه الاصفياء

اصيل قام فيه الاصفياء

Thus your lineage is rooted in a noble stock,

Your sweat is a noble, virtuous kind,

Of pure origin, in which the chosen ones arose.

From pure, eminent forebears it sprang.

وقد طبعت بطينتك المعالي

وقد طبعت بطينتك المعالي

وحكم الطبع ليس به مراء

وحكم الطبع ليس به مراء

And lofty virtues were molded from your clay,

Your nature is imbued with the highest virtues,

And nature's rule is beyond dispute.

By nature's decree, of this there is no doubt.

نرى هذي العناصر فاعلات

نرى هذي العناصر فاعلات

وهذا الماء يبصر والهواء

وهذا الماء يبصر والهواء

We see these elements at work,

We see that these elements are active,

And this water and the air are perceived.

This water that sees, and this air that flows.

وان الشمس تبرز من سناها

وان الشمس تبرز من سناها

شؤنا لا يقوم بها الهباء

شؤنا لا يقوم بها الهباء

And the sun brings forth from its radiance

The sun emerges from its sheath of light,

Effects that motes of dust cannot produce.

With a brilliance that cannot be dispelled.

ترعرع فيك طبع ما تثنى

ترعرع فيك طبع ما تثنى

لغيرك فاق من ذهبوا وجاؤا

لغيرك فاق من ذهبوا وجاؤا

A nature flourished within you, never duplicated

You were nurtured with a nature that cannot

In anyone else; it surpassed all who went and came.

Be surpassed by any who came before or after.

نظام في الوجود به بهاءٌ

نظام في الوجود به بهاءٌ

بعين الله طورك والبهاء

بعين الله طورك والبهاء

An order that lends splendor to existence;

A perfection in existence you represent,

Your state and splendor are under God's eye.

Exalted in the eyes of God, and sublime.

وعقل قد يدير رحى البرايا

وعقل قد يدير رحى البرايا

ولفظ كالقضاء له مضاء

ولفظ كالقضاء له مضاء

And an intellect that can turn creation's millstone,

A mind that sets in motion the millstones of insight,

And speech like decree, with piercing force;

And speech like fate, effective and clear.

وعلم من جناب الله حارت

وعلم من جناب الله حارت

له العلماء زينه الحياء

له العلماء زينه الحياء

And knowledge from God's presence that bewildered

Knowledge directly from God puzzled

The learned, and was adorned by modesty;

The scholars, its beauty is modesty.

وعدل فيه منك عظيم طول

وعدل فيه منك عظيم طول

وحلمك والتأود والسخاء

وحلمك والتأود والسخاء

And justice in which your bounty is immense,

Justice, from you, of such great extent,

And your forbearance, gentleness, and generosity;

And your forbearance, affection, and generosity.

وزهد قد زوى الاكوان طرا

وزهد قد زوى الاكوان طرا

وصدق زان رونقه الوفاء

وصدق زان رونقه الوفاء

And renunciation that folded all worlds away,

Asceticism that has enriched the cosmos,

And truthfulness whose luster faithfulness adorned;

And truthfulness that sincerity has adorned.

وصبر فيه تمكين وجاش

وصبر فيه تمكين وجاش

وفضل ما لبهجته انقضاء

وفضل ما لبهجته انقضاء

And patience filled with steadfastness and courage,

Perseverance, firm and valiant,

And excellence whose splendor never ends;

And superiority that never expires.

وفرط شجاعة وشريف رأي

وفرط شجاعة وشريف رأي

له بالحزم نشر وانطواء

له بالحزم نشر وانطواء

And surpassing courage and noble judgment,

Excess of courage and noble perspective,

Unfolded and folded away with firm resolve;

Discretion in expanding and restraining.

وبر شامل وعظيم خلق

وبر شامل وعظيم خلق

وبذل ليس يحجره العطاء

وبذل ليس يحجره العطاء

And all-embracing kindness and great character,

Comprehensive, magnificent character,

And generosity that giving cannot constrain;

Generosity that cannot be contained.

وقلب كله عطف ورفق

وقلب كله عطف ورفق

لديه الناس كلهم سواء

لديه الناس كلهم سواء

And a heart all tenderness and gentleness,

A heart that is all sympathy and kindness,

To which all people are equal.

To people, it makes no distinctions.

كشفت غطاء اقوام شداد

كشفت غطاء اقوام شداد

ولولا الحق ما كشف الغطاء

ولولا الحق ما كشف الغطاء

You lifted the veil from unyielding peoples,

You removed the covering from hardened peoples,

And but for the Truth, the veil would not have been lifted.

Without the truth, covers would not be lifted.

رأوا نور النبوة منك يجلى

رأوا نور النبوة منك يجلى

بطرز ما جلته الانبياء

بطرز ما جلته الانبياء

They saw prophethood's light shine forth from you,

They saw the light of prophecy shining from you,

In a manner the prophets had not displayed.

In styles unmatched by previous prophets.

محقت الظلم والاهواء عنهم

محقت الظلم والاهواء عنهم

وقام عن الغشاء بهم صفاء

وقام عن الغشاء بهم صفاء

You swept injustice and passions away from them,

You erased injustice and caprice from them,

And clarity replaced the veil within them.

Purity emerged as their cover was lifted.

وقد شهدوا لذاتك معجزات

وقد شهدوا لذاتك معجزات

بدست الصدق تم لها انجلاء

بدست الصدق تم لها انجلاء

And they witnessed miracles of your person,

They bore witness to your evident miracles,

On the throne of truth, they were fully unveiled.

Carried out sincerely, clearly manifested.

وعن علم الكيان كشفت سترا

وعن علم الكيان كشفت سترا

لديه كلام من هذروا هواء

لديه كلام من هذروا هواء

And you lifted a veil from knowledge of existence,

You unveiled the curtain upon the science of being,

Beside which the babblers' talk is mere air.

While for others its discourse was but idle talk.

وزلزلت البرية بانقاسم

وزلزلت البرية بانقاسم

له هرع القلوب لها رغاء

له هرع القلوب لها رغاء

And you shook creation with a sundering,

You shook the wilds with your cleaving,

Toward it hearts rushed, bellowing aloud.

To you hearts flocked with fervent zeal.

وتذكر اسمك القدسي زهر

وتذكر اسمك القدسي زهر

فيسبق قولها منها البكاء

فيسبق قولها منها البكاء

And blossoms utter your sacred name,

Remembrance of your holy name flowers,

So weeping comes from them before their speech.

And tears precede the words it elicits.

وشرعك كله عدل وحق

وشرعك كله عدل وحق

وانصاف يزال به العناء

وانصاف يزال به العناء

And your law is entirely justice and truth,

Your law is entirely just and true,

And fairness by which hardship is removed.

Relieving distress with equity.
