  3. لاح جمال حبي

    ملألأ الشعاع

    My beloved's beauty shone forth,

    With glittering rays,

  4. وضاء متسنيراً

    كالشمس في البقاع

    Radiant and shining,

    Like the sun across the lands.

  5. وفاح منه نشر ال

    شذا بكل قاع

    And from him wafted the fragrance of the

    Sweet scent through every plain.

  6. معناه نصب عيني

    ثناه في سماعي

    His inner meaning is before my eyes;

    His praise is in my hearing.

  7. اعد علي معنى

    كما له المذاع

    Repeat to me the meaning

    Of his proclaimed perfection.

  8. كالت له دموعي

    صاع الهوى بصاع

    My tears measured out for him

    A measure of passion for a measure.

  9. فارقته وقلبي

    مضنى من الوداع

    I parted from him, and my heart

    Was worn out by farewell.

  10. ابكي ودمع عيني

    على البطاح ساع

    I weep, and the tears of my eyes

    Flow across the broad plains.

  11. عسى الحظوظ تقضي

    بساعة اجتماع

    May fortune decree

    An hour of reunion.
