Sweet, though his ways give a taste of bitter aloe.

    محارب للعاشق الواله

At peace with those who are not his friends,

At war with the love-distraught lover,

  5. موادد لجاهلي قدره

    ولم يجيء مضناه في باله

Affectionate toward those ignorant of his worth,

Yet the one he has worn down has not crossed his mind.

    أيامنا بلثم أذياله

Our days, through kissing his hems.

A time gone by, yet [word unclear]—for the

Heart, a cure for the sickness of its hopes.
