Sol 6.1

  1. يا أهل لست بمشتاق إلى وطني

    حتى أرى خيل فنا خسرُ بينكُم

    O people, I do not long for my homeland

    Until I see Fannā Khusraw's cavalry among you.

  2. أضحى يهنأ في الأضحى بمنزلة

    لا العرب نالت مراقيها ولا العجم

    He now receives congratulations at the Feast of Sacrifice on a rank

    Whose heights neither Arabs nor non-Arabs have attained.

  3. أصغر بأضحية في غير يوم وغى

    فما اضاحيك الا الخيل والبهم

    How paltry a sacrifice outside a day of battle!

    For your sacrificial victims are only horses and valiant warriors.

  4. وإنما أنت لطف الله جسمه

    لنا وفي يدك الأرزاق والقسم

    And you are but God's grace, which He embodied

    For us; in your hand are livelihoods and allotted shares.

  5. عدلت حتى هممنا أن نجور وكم

    من شارك نعما في ضمنها نقم

    You ruled so justly that we contemplated injustice; and how many

    Partake of blessings that harbor afflictions!

  6. إن المسيح وقد بانت دلالته

    لولا هداه لما ضلت به الامم

    Indeed, though the Messiah's proof was clear,

    Without his guidance, the nations would not have strayed through him.

  7. في كل ناحية لم ترعها امم

    الهدي منها بعيد والاذى أمم

    In every region you have not protected are peoples;

    Guidance is far from them, and harm is near.

  8. إن البلاد ومن فيها مروعة

    بها اليك وان طلتها قرم

    Indeed, the lands and all within them are driven in fear

    By them toward you, though their [unclear] is a mighty lord.

  9. وما نبالي اذا ما كنت شاهدها

    أن غاب معتضد عنها ومعتصم

    And when you are present there, we do not care

    That Muʿtaḍid and Muʿtaṣim are absent from those lands.

  10. عدها بنصرك أو قل سوف ادركها

    فإن قولك في أمثالهم قسم

    Promise them your aid, or say, 'I shall reach them,'

    For your word concerning their like is an oath.
