وفيهن سكرى اللحظ سكرى من الصبا

وفيهن سكرى اللحظ سكرى من الصبا

فعاتب حلو اللفظ حلو الشمائلِ

فعاتب حلو اللفظ حلو الشمائلِ

And among them is one whose glances are drunk, herself drunk with youth—

And among them is one with a drunken gaze, drunk with youthful passion;

so chide her, though her speech is sweet and her ways are gracious.

so reproach the one sweet of speech and sweet of manner.

أدارت علينا من سلاف حديثها

She passed around among us, from the choice wine of her conversation,

From the choicest wine of her speech she passed around to us

goblets—and sang to us in the chiming voice of anklets.

cups, and sang to us with the sound of anklets.
