A gazelle who, when he appears among his clan,
strikes with sorrow the heart of whoever visits him.
بدائعmarvels الحسنof beauty فيهin him مفترقهscattered
بدائع الحسن فيه مفترقه
وأعينand the eyes الناسof people فيهupon him متفقهunited
وأعين الناس فيه متفقه
The marvels of beauty are scattered across him,
and people's eyes all converge upon him.
سهامarrows ألحاظهof his glances مفوقةnocked
سهام ألحاظه مفوقة
فكلso everyone منwho رامseeks لحظةa glance رشقهhe shoots him
فكل من رام لحظة رشقه
The arrows of his glances are nocked,
so he shoots whoever seeks a glance.
قدindeed كتبhas written الحسنbeauty فوقupon عارضهhis cheek
قد كتب الحسن فوق عارضه
هذاthis one مليحlovely وحقand by the right of منthe One who خلقهcreated him
هذا مليح وحق من خلقه
Beauty has written upon his cheek:
"This one is lovely, by Him who created him."
