فهمنا عندَ رؤيته حيارى
We drank our beloved’s cup openly;
We openly drank the cup of the one we love.
At the sight of him, we understood—bewildered.
So, upon seeing him, we wandered bewildered.

Through it we beheld the cupbearer reveal himself,
And in it we beheld the cupbearer reveal himself.
And through his self-revelation we became intoxicated.
So we became drunk from his self-revelation.

We sought safety from the cupbearer of the fiery wine,
We sought safety from the cupbearer of strong wine.
But he cried, “There is no veil, no curtain!”
So he called out: “No veil and no curtain!”

We saw the cup unveiled in the taverns;
We saw the cup being polished in the taverns.
We thought it fire within the goblets.
We thought there was fire in the cups.
