    Dispel your illusion,

    and be still awhile.

    And thank the one who polishes

    the mirror within you.

    Your spiritual master surely shows you

    how to walk the path.

    So stand firm; perhaps through union

    you will dispel doubts.

    And speak to the one who guards

    the secret of kings,

    and unravels your enigma for you

    little by little.

    You will be peerless in your age,

    alive in the Living One.

    O master of possibility,

    speak to me, that I may see you

    لَس ثمَّ سواك

    in the presence of excellence;

    none is there but you.

    You are above the worlds,

    and that is the truth:

    نَطْوِيهِ طَيْ

    you alone are existence;

    I fold it up completely.

    And all is in you, entirely,

    beneath the veil.

    Pass me by, O reproacher,

    for God's sake, and go.

    دَعْني نَبُوحْ

    And do not rebuke me;

    let me speak openly.

    جانِي فُتُوح

    For the secret is mine, from me;

    spiritual openings have come to me.

    And you are with your own self,

    which leads you into error.

    You cannot heal from your wound

    except through cautery.

    مِن شِرْبِهْ

    Ask the sage to give you drink

    from his draught;

    for he will quench your thirst

    surely with it.

    Then, if your life grows serene,

    be well, O little brother.

    And die to live, and listen,

    so that you may remain alive.

    If your state becomes sound,

    O you, beloved one,

    make it your capital,

    and beware lest it vanish.

    And trail your hems,

    and rejoice and be glad.

    هِيَ غَطَّت عَلَيْ

    And say to your illusion:

    She has veiled me;

    you have left me always

    empty-handed.
