and suffering is gone.

And hardship is removed

آه نبغي رضاكمْ

يا أهل المنى

Ah, we seek your favor,

Ah, we want your pleasure

O people of longing.

O people of the destination

جدّد فيه غرامك

جدّد فيه غرامك

وعمّر وطيبْ

وعمّر وطيبْ

Renew your passion for him,

Renew your passion in it

and make it flourish and sweeten it.

And inhabit and purify

آه جدّدْ عليا

آه جدّدْ عليا

وصالْ الحبيب

وصالْ الحبيب

Ah, renew for me

Ah, renew the most high

union with the beloved.

And join the beloved

لا تعشق يا قلبي

لا تعشق يا قلبي

سوى المصطفى

سوى المصطفى

Do not love, O my heart,

Do not love, O my heart

anyone but al-Mustafa.

Other than Al-Mustafa

نورُ اللهِ الممجدْ

نورُ اللهِ الممجدْ

وبحر الوفا

وبحر الوفا

God's glorified light,

The light of Allah, the Glorified

and the sea of faithfulness;

And the sea of loyalty

من حاز الحسن طرا

من حاز الحسن طرا

وحاز الوفا

وحاز الوفا

he who has attained all beauty,

Whoever obtained beauty openly

and has attained faithfulness.

And obtained loyalty

أنت البدرُ المكملْ

أنت البدرُ المكملْ

وسرك عجيب

وسرك عجيب

You are the full moon made perfect,

You are the perfect full moon

and your mystery is wondrous.

And your secret is wonderful

آه جدّد عليا

آه جدّد عليا

وصالِ الحبيب

Ah, renew for me

Ah, renew the most high

union with the beloved.

And join the beloved

مالي سواكْ

Ah, O master of the messengers,

I have none but you.

قتلني هواكْ

Ah, O light of my eye,

Ah, O light of my eye

longing for you has slain me.

Your love has killed me

آه اعطفْ عليا

وَجُدْ برضاكْ

وَجُدْ برضاكْ

Ah, show compassion toward me,

Ah, have mercy on me

and be generous with your favor.

And be kind with your pleasure

حداةَ السُرى زَمْزِمُوا

حداةَ السُرى زَمْزِمُوا

في أرضِ الحجازْ يمموا

في أرضِ الحجازْ يمموا

O night-traveling camel-drivers, chant.

The guides of Al-Surah, make pilgrimage

In the land of the Hijaz, set your course.

In the land of Hejaz, intend

ونشر الدليلُ العلمْ

ونشر الدليلُ العلمْ

وقالْ للرجالْ عَزِّمُوا

وقالْ للرجالْ عَزِّمُوا

And the guide unfurled the banner,

And the flag of knowledge has spread

and said to the men, "Be resolute!"

And said to the men, be determined

شَمِرْ يا نحيلَ الذيولْ

شَمِرْ يا نحيلَ الذيولْ

أهل العزمِ قد شَمَّروا

أهل العزمِ قد شَمَّروا

Gird yourself, O you of slender hems;

Roll up your sleeves, O slender waist

the resolute have already girded themselves.

The people of determination have rolled up

ولعلعْ بصوتكَ وقولْ

ولعلعْ بصوتكَ وقولْ

وبُحْ بالهوى واكتموا

وبُحْ بالهوى واكتموا

And let your voice ring out, and speak;

And sparkle with your voice and words

and speak openly of love, and conceal it.

And declare passion and conceal

وعَمَّر بحبِ الرسولْ

وعَمَّر بحبِ الرسولْ

قلبكْ بمثلِ ما عَمَّرُوا

قلبكْ بمثلِ ما عَمَّرُوا

And fill with love for the Messenger

And inhabit your heart with the love of the Messenger

your heart, as they filled theirs.

As they inhabited theirs

سرُّ الحبيب لا تكتموا

سرُّ الحبيب لا تكتموا

جميعُ الورى يعلموا

جميعُ الورى يعلموا

Do not conceal the beloved's secret;

The secret of the beloved do not conceal

all humankind knows it.

Let all creation know

من لا يرحموا الأنامْ

من لا يرحموا الأنامْ

إِلهْ السما يرحموا

إِلهْ السما يرحموا

Whoever finds no mercy among humankind,

Whoever does not have mercy on people

the God of heaven has mercy on him.

The God of the sky will have mercy on them

ترعرعْ جمالَ الحجيجْ

ترعرعْ جمالَ الحجيجْ

سحيرا كما حملوا

سحيرا كما حملوا

Bestir yourself, camel-driver of the pilgrims,

Flourish the beauty of the pilgrims

just before dawn, as they set out.

Enchanted as they carried

وللنوق تسمع ضجيجْ

وللنوق تسمع ضجيجْ

ما تقوى القلوب تحملوا

ما تقوى القلوب تحملوا

And you hear a clamor from the she-camels,

And for the camels, you hear the clamor

which hearts have no strength to bear.

What hearts can endure they carried

والعشاق بحال تهيجْ

والعشاق بحال تهيجْ

مليحْ لما يعلموا

مليحْ لما يعلموا

And lovers stir in a state

And the lovers in a state of anxiety

lovely through what they know.

Beautiful when they know

في وادي النقا خيموا

في وادي النقا خيموا

ونار الغرام أضرموا

ونار الغرام أضرموا

In Wadi al-Naqa they pitched their tents,

In the valley of Al-Naqa they camped

and kindled the fire of passion,

And lit the fire of passion

وهجروا لذيذ المنامْ

وهجروا لذيذ المنامْ

وزادَ التقي قدمُوا

وزادَ التقي قدمُوا

and forsook sweet sleep,

And abandoned the sweetness of sleep

and offered piety as their provision.

And brought closer to God they stepped
