O Harith son of Badr, you have assumed a governorship.
So be a rat among those who betray and steal.

يَقولُ بِما يَهوى وَإِمّا مُصَدِّقُ
For everyone is either one who disbelieves,
Speaking as he pleases, or one who believes.

They make statements based on conjecture and suspicion;
But if told, 'Bring proof; substantiate it,' they fail to do so.

And never be helpless—helplessness is the most comfortable mount;
For not everyone called to sustenance is provided for.

And challenge Tamim with wealth, for wealth has
A tongue with which the timid man speaks.
