وَلاnor إِرقاصُناmaking us dance خَلفَbehind المَواليthe masters or patrons
وَلا إِرقاصُنا خَلفَ المَوالي
بِسُنَّتِناin keeping with our custom عَلىduring عَهدِthe time of الرَسولِthe Messenger
بِسُنَّتِنا عَلى عَهدِ الرَسولِ
Nor was our being made to dance behind the mawālī
Nor is making us dance behind the masters
our custom in the Messenger’s time.
