The basest men, Banu Qushayr, say:

“Through all the years, you never forget Ali.”

So I said to them: How could I forsake

the deeds that are enjoined upon me?

and Ja'far—indeed, Ja'far is the finest scion,

a martyr in Paradise’s gardens, an Emigrant.

Nor do I forget what Husayn endured,

nor is Hasan the least dear of them to me.

The Prophet’s paternal cousins and his close kin

    وَفيهِم أُسوَةٌ إِن كانَ غَيّا

    So if loving them is right guidance, I attain it;

and in them I have an example, if it be misguidance.

How much right guidance I have gained, and glory won,

beyond the reach of the heads of the Pleiades!

and of my affection as long as I live:

a love bestowed on me when there turned

the millstone of Islam—a love that had no equal.

I love them for love of God, until

I come, when resurrected, still holding to my love.

I have seen that God, Creator of all things,

guided them and chose a prophet from among them,

and singled out no one but them for it.

May what He chose for them be pleasant and wholesome!

his cause became firmly established and strong.

And I love peoples who answered God in fear

of Him, setting up no equal to Him.

and Aslam—doubled alongside him—and Baliyy [syntax unclear].

with full coats of mail upon them—and they lead riding camels.
