رَماني جاريَ ظالِماً لي بِرَميهِ

رَماني جاريَ ظالِماً لي بِرَميهِ

فَقُلتُ لَهُ مَهلاً فَأَنكَرَ ما أَتى

فَقُلتُ لَهُ مَهلاً فَأَنكَرَ ما أَتى

My neighbor hurled something at me, wronging me with his throw.

My neighbor harmed me unjustly with his throws

So I said to him, 'Desist!' but he denied what he had done.

So I said to him, wait, but he denied what he did

وَقالَ الَّذي يَرميكَ رَبُّكَ جازِياً

وَقالَ الَّذي يَرميكَ رَبُّكَ جازِياً

بِذَنبِكَ وَالإِذنابُ يُعقِبُ ما تَرى

بِذَنبِكَ وَالإِذنابُ يُعقِبُ ما تَرى

And he said, 'The one who throws at you is your Lord, requiting you

And said, "It is your Lord who throws at you to punish you

for your sin; sinning brings about what you see.'

For your sin, and sins lead to what you see"

فَقُلتُ لَهُ لَو أَنَّ رَبّي بِرَميَةٍ

فَقُلتُ لَهُ لَو أَنَّ رَبّي بِرَميَةٍ

رَماني لَما أَخطا إِلهيَ ما رَمى

رَماني لَما أَخطا إِلهيَ ما رَمى

So I said to him, 'Had my Lord, with a throw,

So I said to him, "If my Lord wanted to throw at me

thrown at me, my God would not have missed what He aimed at.'

He would not miss, my God does not miss what he throws

جَزى اللَهُ شَرّاً كُلَّ مَن نالَ سَوءَةً

جَزى اللَهُ شَرّاً كُلَّ مَن نالَ سَوءَةً

وَينَحَلُ مِنها الرَبَّ في عُذرِهِ الرِدا

وَينَحَلُ مِنها الرَبَّ في عُذرِهِ الرِدا

May God repay with evil everyone who commits a shameful deed

May God reward with evil everyone who faces misfortune

and, to excuse himself, falsely attributes its evil to the Lord.

And may the Lord be absolved of it in His defense"
